What to Do With Your Pet While On Vacation

Vacations are an exciting time for many of us. They give us a break from the daily grind, allow us to reconnect with family, and can help us relax and destress. While going on vacation should be something we all do regularly, there are some things that may hold us back from taking these short breaks from reality, including our pets.

While you can take your pets on some vacations with you, others may not be as pet-friendly as you would hope. If you have a dog that is difficult to care for or a cat who only likes a select few, taking a vacation may not even be something you can consider. But it doesn’t have to be this way! There are many things you can do with your pets while you are on vacation, allowing you to get some much-needed rest and relaxation.

At Royal Pets Market & Resort, we can provide your pet with the love, care, and attention they need while you are away. While we believe this is the best option for you and your pet, we will give you some ideas on other things you can do with your pet while on vacation.

Bring Them

As we mentioned before, there are some vacations that are more pet-friendly. If you are taking a short drive to a beach house, you can easily make that happen with a dog or a cat. You will likely not want to drive more than a few hours with a pet however, unless of course they are used to it. You will have to make frequent stops for bathroom breaks, make sure they have water and food regularly, and you should keep them in a crate to keep them and everyone in the car safe. If your dog is climbing around the car it can be distracting and may cause an accident. If they are in a crate, you may also have to put up with whining or meowing for hours until you reach your destination.

Leave Them At Home

Another option is to leave them at home and have a neighbor or a friend stop by every day to make sure they have food, water, bathroom breaks, and time to play. Some people request that the friend spends the night at the house so that their pet has someone there with them all night and can get them what they need early in the morning. While this could be a good option, allowing them to enjoy the comfort of their own home while having someone close to you care for them, it may not always end well. What if your friend forgets about your pet? What if they accidentally lock themselves out and don’t have a way of getting back in? What if they don’t do everything your pet needs? While we are sure your friends are trustworthy, you never know what can happen and it can be easy to forget to take care of a pet when it is not in the same house as you.

Drop Them Off At a Friends

Then there is the option of dropping your dog or cat off at your friend’s house with all of their belongings and things needed to care for them while you are away. This may be a better option than leaving them at home and having a friend stop by because your friend will not be able to forget about them if they are in their home. However, this means you have to pack enough dog or cat food to last while you are away, pack toys, their bed, any medication they may be on, and whatever else they need while at your friends. When you are trying to pack for yourself, you should not have to worry about packing for your pet too. Something is bound to be forgotten if you are worrying about getting everything ready. Plus, if you don’t pack enough food or treats, your pet may be fed other foods that are not healthy for them.

Leave Them With Us

And of course, the best option, leave your pets with us and give them the royal treatment! When you leave your pets at our pet resort during your vacation, they will be properly cared for by our pet-loving staff. They will have their own room with a cot, time to play indoors and out, treat time, and a caring staff that will ensure your pet is getting everything they need during their stay with us. Plus, you can keep an eye on your pet while you are away! Each of our rooms is connected to a pet cam. You can use your smartphone or computer to log in and watch your pet during their stay.

We know leaving your pets behind can be difficult, but when you leave them with our loving team at Royal Pets Market & Resort, you will be able to enjoy your vacation knowing your pets are getting the best care possible. If you are planning your next vacation, be sure to reserve a spot for your pet! We look forward to boarding your dog or cat while you spend time relaxing.
